Dr. Bruce Dewe

Dr. Bruce Dewe is an international lecturer and has been a medical doctor for over 40 years and has 30 years’ experience in kinesiology.  In 2005 Dr. Dewe was recognized as one of the Founding Fathers of Kinesiology at the TFHKA Convention in the USA.   In his role as Dean of Professional Studies for the college, Dr. Dewe had kinesiology instated on the Educational Framework of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority, allowing registration of a National Diploma in Kinesiology in New Zealand.

Joan Dewe

Joan Dewe is a Chartered Natural Medicine Practitioner who specialises in kinesiology. Initially trained as a high school teacher, Mrs. Dewe worked in a medical research institute where she developed skills that have been invaluable since she began specialising in complementary medicine. She has had extensive teaching and administrative experience and is a co-developer of Professional Kinesiology Practice workshops with husband, Bruce Dewe; She also helped develop the New Zealand Kinesiology Practitioners’ Accreditation Board.

In 1999 Dr Dewe and his wife, Joan, founded the International College of Professional Kinesiology Practice. The four-year professional qualification was a world first and brings professional discipline and quality to the teaching of kinesiology. The syllabus is taught in institutes and colleges in 16 countries around the world and has created an internationally recognised standard for the discipline.  ICPKP is not itself a training college.  ICPKP does not take students or run courses in kinesiology but merely provides teaching materials and assessment tools to licensed colleges who wish to teach this material.  Colleges that meet ICPKP requirements are licensed to teach ICPKP material.  Colleges that provide ICPKP courses must use teachers who have achieved ICPKP Faculty Status to teach the material.

  • All parts of the course have competency based assessments for quality assurance and uses a variety of assessment methods e.g. practical, oral and written examinations, assignments, class presentations, role plays etc.
  • A range of teaching methods are incorporated for delivery of course content as relevant to the subject. These include a combination of modified lectures utilizing visual aids, workbooks and handouts, class and group discussions, theory and practical exercises, demonstrations, role plays and presentations.
